FOR THIS PURPOSE…
THE SON OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED…
THAT HE MIGHT…
DESTROY…
THE WORKS…
OF THE DEVIL!
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
~ I John 3: 8 ~
Jesus comes down from heaven as a lion, to tear down the lies and the evil imaginations in man. Destroying the works of them without killing the man. Notice the Son of God’s purpose is to destroy the works of the devil, but not to destroy the devil. Destroying the works of satan, is rendering him of his power and of man’s evil imaginations.
The spirit of truth can do this work because he knows what evil is and what good is. Because he knows both, he also then knows the difference between good and evil.
“I came down from heaven”
And to do, what? What purpose?
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him (my father) that sent me.
~ John 6:38 ~
So he states why he came down from heaven for. What he will do, and also notice that he states what is purpose is not. I’m doing the will of God, and I’m not here to do my own will.
When we witness seeing Jesus Christ come down from heaven in a dream or vision…. light (wisdom and understanding) is being imparted to us. True?
Recall the woman that was healed in Luke’s gospel?
Luke chapter 13 verses 10-13
10. And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
11. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
I recall being brought into this parable by a dream some years ago. I was standing among this packed crowed as we watched Jesus walking into this building. As I had just witnessed Jesus descending from heaven in a tunnel of wind. It was startling to see Jesus, for I had been taught that Christians wouldn’t see Jesus until we physically died and went to heaven.
He immediately started to teach the people as all were standing and moving swiftly towards him as if to mall him. But suddenly we all heard this woman of Luke 13 began to cry out, so the crowd stood still to understand what all the commotion was all about. She is now right in front of me and bent over as the gospel records. She began to cry out aloud in a high pitched with a rejoicing voice. Saying “I’m being healed, I’m being healed”! As she is screaming these words out, she had begun to slowly raise upward from her waist. But it seemed the couldn’t finish getting straight up as if she was stuck, something was interfering with the completeness of her healing.
Then suddenly I saw a black spider who was creepy-crawling on her back about where her shoulder blades would be. Since it was behind her, she couldn’t see this spider and so it was unknown to her what was the cause of being bowed together. When suddenly a man’s hand appeared, removed it by crushing this spider from off her back. Then she was able to stand up completely straight, being healed from her infirmity.
As I’m in the dream witnessing this healing, wasn’t it actually my own soul (she/ my wisdom and understanding) being restored? Wasn’t it actually my own misperception of the Spirit of prophecy, Christ Jesus, being restored?
Understanding…being restored although she had a misperception of the truth of Jesus Christ. For now, we can stand up…straight, not bend over and crooked. Like this woman in the parable in Luke, her wisdom and understanding were restored.
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
~ 1 John 5:20 ~
What was once darkness and the error in us of our, perceptions, motives or our belief systems, or our way (pattern) of thinking, isn’t it altered and changed?
Changed into what? More into his likeness.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
~ Romans 6:5 ~
We are changed from… faith > to > faith
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed…from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
~ Romans 1:17 ~
We are changed INTO THE SAME IMAGE from glory > to > glory (greater understanding).
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
~ 2 Corinthians 3:18 ~
When he shall come to be glorified in his saints and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
~ II Thessalonians 1:10 ~
